The Digital Talks have been in charge of welcoming the BIEMH Talks that, through conferences, keynotes, workshops and round tables, will examine until Thursday the current situation and future projections of the industry.

The first session of the Digital Talks focused on Digitalization and Intelligent Systems in Industry. To this end, the program included professionals who contributed ideas, concepts and initiatives on issues of strategic interest such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its different applications in additive manufacturing and the manufacturing industry. All these trends were received by an audience that filled the Conference Room in Hall 4.

To bring all these issues down to earth, this first session featured several success stories from international companies that highlighted the potential of AI, for example, in the planning, sequencing and synchronization of the value chain in the automotive industry, and analyzed the role of data in the fields of innovation and sustainability, “where the real challenge lies not in its accumulation, but in its strategic use,” concluded one of the speakers.

Impact and opportunities of generative Artificial Intelligence. Under this statement of intent, the role of emerging digital technologies in the industry has been developed as responsible for the current transformation of various sectors through automation and process optimization.

The reflections presented have shown that the level of world investment in quantum technologies, with China at the forefront (it invested 20,000 million dollars last year), make this technology “a reality that is here to stay” and that, in the Basque Country, it has given rise to a pole of innovation and knowledge of reference. “At the moment there is a war for a model of society in the world and if we want to maintain our current welfare state, this means defending knowledge and mastering this type of technology”, added another of the speakers, who concluded: “Just as AI has gone from opportunity to obligation, the same thing will happen with Quantum Technology”.

The last session of the Digital Talks focused on cybersecurity from a generic framework headed by the European Strategy and its translation to the Basque Country to several success stories where cybersecurity has played a decisive role not only in business survival but also in international expansion.

Bearing in mind that the margin of error for minimizing the impact of an incident is narrower every day, the only thing left to do is to really value the potential of cybersecurity in order to, as one of the invited specialists concluded, “generate fertile soil that will allow us to plant trees with robust roots capable of weathering the storm… Cybersecurity is a real commitment to business continuity”.

Finally, a round table on cybersecurity data spaces provided keys and trends on the cyber threats that loom over companies and states when information and data are shared. “This type of space should be attractive for any company or organization, especially if we take into account the current context in which the sector is moving,” said one of the speakers, who added in conclusion: “We have an exciting field of work ahead of us. A field where we have to see these data spaces as a field in which we can continue to develop and innovate with the aim of finding something that really brings value to the end consumer”.

Tomorrow will be the Automation & Robotics Talks, which will present news and developments in robotics and automation applied to industry, and on Thursday, the Additive Talks, which will emphasize the challenges, evolution and implementation of additive technology.
