The lehendakari opens the 31st edition of the BIEMH-Biennial International Machine Tool Fair

“This Biennale will be the showcase for this future industry” with these words, the Lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, opened the 31st edition of BIEMH-International Machine-Tool Biennial, at Bilbao Exhibition Centre until Friday 17 June.

“This year, in addition to seeing and understanding, we will once again feel what the machine tool sector represents in our country. A business fabric that not only produces, imports and exports, but also has a skilled, trained and competitive human team. This International Machine Tool Biennial 2022 awakens all our senses: to see and touch; to understand, learn and show; to feel and enjoy. We are opening a week of advanced industry, eager to welcome and bring together local and international suppliers and customers. An opportunity to show the world the industrial and technological potential of the Basque Country”, said the Lehendakari.

Arantxa Tapia, Regional Minister for Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment and President of BEC said that “we have prepared the spaces and services of BEC Infraestructura with enthusiasm and excitement. We open the windows of the Basque Country to show the world the industrial treasures that industry has produced in spite of the difficulties. BIEMH will be one of the most important events in BEC calendar in 2022 and a great event for the industry, which will complete a tour with the parallel fairs”.

Likewise, José Pérez Berdud, President of AFM- Advanced Manufacturing Technologies pointed out that “competitive, digitized and sustainable industry is, without a doubt, the driving force of our country and our society, and advanced manufacturing technologies are the substrate of the main value chains of our economy. BIEMH is the perfect industrial ecosystem where solutions to the most complex manufacturing challenges are offered. Everything that is essential to transform industry is here at BEC”.

In addition, Jose Ignacio Ortiz de Urbina, President of AIMHE, said that “for us it is a real privilege to be at the 31st edition of the Biennial”, and took the opportunity to invite everyone to come to BEC, because as the claim of the edition says, this is “More Biennial than ever” and “More necessary than ever”.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Amaia del Campo, Mayoress of Barakaldo; Unai Rementeria, Deputy General of Bizkaia; Juan Mª Aburto, Mayor of Bilbao; Denis Itxaso, Government Delegate; Ana Otadui, President of the General Assembly; Xabier Ortueta, General Manager of AFM-Advanced Manufacturing Technologies; and Bruno Manzanares, General Manager of AIMHE.

One of the industry’s most eagerly awaited events returns to BEC today. The BIEMH kicks off a new edition with more than 1,400 exhibitors from 28 countries, more than 3,400 machines, products, services and new developments, 230 national and international speakers and 300 major buyers invited. The figures speak for themselves and present a first-class industrial showcase.

BIEMH returns in force to offer its best version as a tool for direct commercial contact with multiple business opportunities. The companies have arrived at BEC with a large display of machinery in operation in a brilliant start that, together with the parallel fairs Addit3D, BeDIGITAL, IMIC and WORKinn-Talent Hub, will convert the six pavilions of the venue into a complete tour of all advanced manufacturing.

Welcome to the International Machine Tool Biennial. This 2022, More BIEMH than ever.
