AIC-Automotive Intelligence Centre is a unique value creator for the automotive industry, based on an open innovation concept that allows companies to use cooperation to enhance competitiveness.
One of AIC’s facilities is the Automotive Smart Factory (ASF), a Competency Centre specialising in advanced manufacturing processes, supplying complete services for the implementation of Industry 4.0. Its primary focus lies on helping the industry throughout the entire transformation process.
ASF attends companies along their transformation journey, adapting to their specific needs, from developing customised strategies and assessing their potential impact to implementing them on the factory floor.
ASF combines physical and virtual capabilities in a single space, leveraging this position to analyse the technologies associated with advanced manufacturing, or industry 4.0. In this scenario, digitalisation comes largely from the virtual part (Manufacturing Intelligence), which includes a smart manufacturing system used to monitor and manage process in real time, guaranteeing zero defects and ensuring unit traceability along with related information.
This is made possible by digitalisation-related research thrusts, which include Big Data, active monitoring of team status, smart process management, advanced machine-to-machine communication, control process and systems simulation, digital quality management and human-machine interaction.
