BEC, an international industry benchmark

“BEC is taking on the role of international industry benchmark for three days with the aim of broadening the perspectives of Basque companies and tackling new challenges and opportunities for the economy of the Basque Country”. This is how the Minister for Economic Development and Infrastructures of the Basque Government, Arantxa Tapia, referred to the large volume of businesses and professionals attending this event at the launch of +Industry. It is, in fact, a platform which has brought seven trade shows together.

The person in charge of the Basque industrial policy also referred to the “European industry that is immersed in a process of intense transformation. + Industry is a clear reflection of this. Our competitiveness is facing challenges linked to infrastructures, energy and talent. In short, we need to accept that we are in a new era in which new ways of managing companies and projects are required; an era in which we must be able to intensify collaboration. Collaboration between companies to increase technological capacity, scale, financing… And collaboration that sometimes requires us to cross borders and learn how to ally ourselves with companies or regions in other countries”.

The opening ceremony of the event was attended by the Mayoress of Barakaldo, Amaia del Campo, the President of the General Assemblies of Bizkaia, Ana Otadui, the Regional Minister for Economic and Regional Development of Bizkaia Provincial Council, Imanol Pradales, the Deputy Government Representative for Bizkaia, Vicente Reyes, and the CEO of BEC, Xabier Basañez, as well as a large number of institutional and business representatives.
